Day-to-day operating documentation has not been written yet. It is deliberately deferred rather than guessed at — a walkthrough that does not match the app is worse than no walkthrough.

Until it lands, First run walks a new user from the download to a first contact, The macOS app sketches what the popover contains, and the app itself carries inline guidance where setup is fiddly (serial PTT, in particular).

What this page will eventually cover:

  • Adding your AllStarLink account and connecting to a node.
  • Push-to-talk: UI press-and-hold, a hardware operator key, and VOX.
  • Favorites, recents, and saved configs.
  • Sending DTMF commands to the far end.
  • Reading the level meters and the spectrum display.
  • Microphone characterization and per-profile gain.
  • M17 sessions.
  • D-Star, once it reaches this client.
